HOW TO IMPROVE SOCIAL LIFE
Posted by Brit Wit (93 days ago)
Hi All
I am wondering if any one out there may have some suggestions for meeting new people. I am looking to may be join some club though not great at sport would be willing to give it a try. Though at 36 not sure if i could keep up. Lol
I work on my own so don't have any co/works to hangout with and have a few friends but they are married and away for the summer. Also my work hours are quite late during the week so it's makes catching up harder to do.
I have read about the american woman club/society is anyone a member..
So if anyone has any advice please let me know.
Many thanks

Hi Brit Wit!
It would be good to meet up sometime. I am also looking to expand my circle of friends since a lot my friends have left HK, and more leaving..... a sad thing about HK.
Maybe you could send me a pm and we can exchange our contact details.

Sounds great, lets all plan something for next week and meet up for lunch, or tea, or dinner ?
Whatever everyone is comfortable with.

Hi all
I am struggling with meeting new people also. I have been here a year and do not have any social life at all, mainly because I am not very outgoing (until you know me!) and therefore not good at joining clubs etc. I am in my early 40s, mum to one 16 year old with a full social life, and husband who is very understanding but doesn't get much time off. I think I am starting to get depressed.
Anyone got any ideas? Much appreciated.

i reckon joining sports club is the best way to meet people but i also notice that most of us r too lazy to go out to meet new people or scared of meeting someone you dont know.
well, seems there are quite few of us feeling the need to get to know more friends, i reckon Brit Wit should organize a nite out for all the girls....dinner or drinks!!??
what do you think Brit Wit???

I joined the American and Australian clubs when I first arrived. I also joined the paddle club and learnt how to dive through ProDive (I was terrified :). This provided me with a great range of new people to meet and led to some wonderful friendships.

Since you are a wit, might I suggest the open mike nights at TakeOut Comedy at 34 Elgin Street, every Tuesday at 8 pm; or take a standup comedy class with Jami Gong (there's one this October 11). I've done it, lots of fun, you meet FUN people! They've got shows there every Friday and Saturday nights at 9:30, too.

I too have difficulty meeting new people. My coworkers all enjoy being together however they also speak Cantonese when doing so, so its been really difficult in getting to know them.
Any suggestions?
