Hi all,
I'm new in Beijing and plan to start IVF cycle. Anyone could recommend me addresses of good doctors and clinics ? any idea of the fees ?

Beijing United Family Hospital will be a good place for you to start.

They have a good network of doctors, and what they don't provide they can partner with local hospitals.
one of their staff is currently getting IVF and I have heard that she is willing to speak to people about her experience.

I have tried Beijing United. They used to bring in doctors from another hospital for initial assessment but I believe they have stopped that service which is why I have approached public hospitals, Maternity and Beijing University 3rd Hospital. However, I have problem adapting to the environment of public hospital here, is currently in touch with Beijing wuzhou Female Hospital.

To give hope to others, after 6 years of TTC, and going through all the fertility workups from clomid, to IUI to 2 cycles of IVF - none of which worked, I was recommended to a miracle TCM doctor in Beijing who has high success rates. She speaks great english too. After 4 months of drinking her herb concoctions everyday, I am amazingly pregnant. And I've continued her herbs and have not had a stitch of morning sickness. hello herbsgotmepregnant ! thx a lot for your message of hope, so it works ! I was a bit despaired because a lot of good addresses seemed to focus only in HKG. I was recommended another "miracle" TCM doctor in Beijing, (thx anyway for your address) who specializes in fertility issues, he speaks english too, luckily. I also started herbs "concoctions" and acupuncture ...Well wait and see, I wanted to try TCM before contacting a classical hospital because I was so disapointed with previous IVF experience and had heard about very good results with TCM without IVF for the results. Congratulations to you !

We lived in Beijing for >10 years, and to the best of my knowledge there is no decent IVF programme in Beijing. This is due to a nasty old lady - in her 70's - that remains in charge of all that for the city. There are clinics in other cities popping up, but nothing in Beijing at this time due to this old witch. My wife tried to go there, and this old witch has to personally see all those wanting IVF, and she examines everyone in public in very crowded rooms. In my wife's case she announced to the assembled room that because I was a foreigner the reason she couldn't conceive must have been because she had an STD and there was nothing that could be done - she didn't actually examine her - just made the pronouncement based on my nationality. When you go through IVF - as we'd done in Australia & USA you are tested for everything, and then some - and my wife's infertility was not related to any disease - but it gives you an idea of the mind set in Beijing.
But the good news is that Shanghai is just a short & cheap flight away, and the Ji Ai clinic has set up there - its a joint venture of the Virginia GIVF clinic - and it was where we finally turned to when everything else had failed. A couple of cyles there and we now have twin boys. Read all about it on http://www.givf-shanghai.com/eindex.htm - its very Chinese, and whilst the doctors, having been trained in Virginia, all speak reasonable English, you won't survive the system there unless you do speak Chinese, or take a translator with you. Id recommend it - how could I not - after 7 years of trying everywhere and becoming increasingly desparate - this is where our twin boys were conceived. By the way, the Ji Ai people told us they wanted to open a Beijing Clinic, but couldn't while that old witch was still in power.
As for Beijing United Hospital - its where you go AFTER you get pregnant - they have no fertility specialists. Our twins were born there, and that was a really positive experience. But they'll be no help for fertility.

Thank you for your message. Very helpful. Please could you let me know how much was the IVF (from all tests to the procedure itself) at Ji Ai clinic in Shanghai. Why did you have to go two cycles? I will be interested to go there and do the procedure and would like to know how we can communicate at your discretion (for you and your wife). I would like to ear about your experience at Ji Ai, cost, etc... before we go there me and my husband. We do not have a "lot of money" and I need to consider all perspective. The gynaecologist at the Peking Union told me that they have had a 30% success rate with their IVF projects so far. She seems to think this is a pretty high rate.

However, the phone number was a fax machine and I couldnt get any answer after trying many times. I was wondering if you still have the contact to the doctor and if you know the new contact number or address.
I would like to see this TCM doctor because I have been TTC for almost 2 years now and would like to try TCM first before going into IVF.

I have been with my current chinese gynea since last april untill today, and is seemed nothing happen to me. That's why i'm interested to find out more information about iui/ivf , the best hospital and the cost too.
I think 30% for ivf successful rate is still so little. i have no confident with that.

I have been going to a TCM doctor for almost 3 months now, I was told that she is good in treating fertility, but theres no results for me to show so far, bt I'll let you all know if good news abound....Meanwhile there is a TCM doctor who is very popular in Beijing I heard but when I tried to make an appt with her it was rather troublesome as it was in the Beijing TCM hospital near Wangfujing. Although she does private practise at a TCM clinic (PingXinTang I think) but when I tried to make appt there I was told to wait 6 months....
If anyone has info about an IVF or IUI clinic in BJ that is other than Beijing Third Hosp I would really like to know about it...

You could try Jiaen Hospital in Beijing. Its a private hospital run by Dr. Liu Jiaen. He was educated in the US and speaks good English. He does both IUI and IVF. I went to see him a couple of years ago when I considered IVF but just as I was about to start, I conceived naturally.
I only visited the hospital once, but its very clean and they gave me the impression that it was very well run. It was 100rmb to see Dr. Liu for a consultation. I brought my temp charts and a whole load of details and we chatted for at least 45 minutes. He was not pushy at all but said that at my age (33 at the time) my chances of conceiving in the first IVF cycle was very high. He also said if we didn't succeed the first round, he would not charge me the fees for the second and third cycles.
I had had a couple of rounds of Clomid and IUI at the Peking Union Hospital at Wangfujing before I went to see him. The environment there was awful and I found the experience pretty traumatic.

Actually, I had also paid a visit to a TCM doc at Pingxingtang the month I conceived. He's called Dr. Liu I think and works on a Monday morning. He specialises infertility for men but he's also knowledgable on women's issues. Anyway, that month, he prescribed some pills which he and his father had developed. Both my husband & I took them. We conceived that month. I'm not sure whether it had anything to do with the pills or whether we were just a little more relaxed than usual coz we were taking a break from the IUI treatment at the Peking Union.
